- Moving in Bohol
Well, it has been a
year since we moved from Dumaguete on the island of Negros to the
island and province of Bohol.
We like Bohol; it is a peaceful and
interesting area, a tourist area and, like Dumaguete, an area with
many expats. We settled in Tagbilaran, the provincial capital, the
largest and only city in the province, in the barangay (community) of
Taloto, which is the Bisaya word for lizard.

Our old apartment was nice, but the contract was up, and the rent would have automatically increased if we stayed longer so we decided to move to a nearby town where the rent is a fraction what it was in Tagbilaran. Now we live in Alburquerque, a small town 20 minutes east of Tagbilaran commonly known as “Albur”, and pay only 4000php ($80) a month in rent. We still live beside the national highway, the circumferential highway around the whole island. I believe you can drive all the way around the whole island in about 7 or 8 hours.

We also sold our 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer and bought a 2010 Kia Picanto.

Great update, thanks Dad! So wild that y'all have been in Bohol for a year already!
