But it is time to move on.

In early March we left Bohol to spend a few weeks with Lyn’s family in Bukidnon. We loaded up a truck with our belongings bringing our car and motorcycle down to the dock in Tagbilaran for the ten hour roro (roll on, roll off) ferry ride to the port of Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao. The Covid and other health tests and barangay and municipal paperwork in Alburquerque and Tagbilaran took several days to accomplish.

In Cagayan de Oro, Lyn’s brothers Lorenzo and Along met us about 5am along with her Uncle Jenny and a smaller truck which, when fully loaded, was over 11 feet tall. This caravan (the loaded truck, our Kia Picanto, and motorcycle) made the four hour trip from CDO to Don Carlos in Bukidnon safely.

It was good reconnecting with family and friends in Bukidnon whom we had not seen in over a year and spend about three weeks there. Many happy times talking, laughing, eating, going swimming in nearby resorts, going to the mall in Valencia! But now it was time for us to go back to CDO, Manila, and the USA.

"Bukid" is the Bisaya word for "mountain"

We were able to meet with Lyn's papa and 4 siblings
she had never met

Once again it took a couple of days to get our Covid and other health tests and official approval papers. I called Japan Airlines to see if we needed additional Covid tests and was assured that we would not since it was only a brief stopover in Tokyo to change planes before heading to Chicago.

We left our car and all our furniture with Lyn’s brothers, and since more people wanted to go with us to see us off, we rented an SUV to go to CDO. Fifteen of us loaded in the SUV, and we took off about 4am. When we arrived in CDO, most of of them got to swim in the ocean, and we had a picnic on the beach before they headed back to Bukidnon.

We flew to Manila, but when we tried to board the plane for Tokyo on the way to Chicago, they stopped us and told us the JAL official was wrong when he told me that we did not need to take another Covid test. We were required to spend another two days in Manila to get new tests.

We arrived in Columbia, SC, about 24 hours after we left Manila where my sister Joy picked us up, and we stayed with Joy and Grace for a few days. We enjoyed the time we were able to spend with them before heading back to Indiana in early April.

In SC, Grace and Joy took us to the best barbecue
restaurant we had ever been to

Now we are back living in Muncie, Indiana.
